Introducing some of the Nintendo Switch 2 tech specs leaked in Nintendo's FCC filing, including network communications, power configurations and more
Nintendo’s Switch 2 has finally made its official debut. Although the details in the officially released trailer remain limited, according to a recent report by The Verge, key technical specifications of the Switch 2—including network communication and power configuration—have been leaked through FCC (Federal Communications Commission) filings.
The Switch 2’s codename is BEE, with the primary unit model labeled BEE-001, while the left and right Joy-Cons are designated BEE-012 and BEE-01, respectively. This naming convention aligns with the original Switch but has also sparked more speculation about the new device’s technical upgrades.
First, the Switch 2 will support NFC functionality, ensuring compatibility with Amiibo figurines. According to the filings, the right Joy-Con will incorporate RFID technology, similar to the original Switch. Diagrams indicate that the Switch 2’s game cartridges remain compatible with the original Switch, with the HAC-008 label mentioned in the documents corresponding to the original Switch’s codename.

In terms of charging, the Switch 2 is equipped with dual USB Type-C ports, both supporting charging. Current data shows the device retains a rated voltage of 15V, but specific current parameters remain undisclosed, leaving its charging power unclear for now.

For wireless connectivity, the Switch 2 supports Wi-Fi 6, marking a significant upgrade in network performance. Compared to the original Switch’s Wi-Fi 5, the new model offers improved speed and stability. However, FCC filings reveal that the Switch 2 has only been tested on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, suggesting it does not support the newer Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 standards.
Additionally, earlier reports indicate that Nintendo plans to hold a dedicated launch event on April 2, 2025, where it will further unveil the Switch 2’s features and launch titles. While specific details about the console’s capabilities remain scarce, it is anticipated that the Switch 2 will introduce a range of innovations and surprises.
